We are happy to announce that our trips will begin again this winter.
Our company ethos is and has always been to be “eco-friendly”, not “ego-friendly”, whether that is with ownership or with any of our Slickrock family and friends. Our registration paperwork was previously paper and ink, intensive, from a guest’s perspective, but being three hours from the mainland and beyond the barrier reef, it has always been thorough for your protection and reassurance that you’re in safe hands with a company that’s been in business since 1977 and in Belize since 1986.
We were almost there last season, but as of now, we are happy to announce that our booking process is 100% digital and paperless, to tie in with our eco-credentials. Our beloved annual brochure is now, too.
When you make a booking to our island, or buy our eco-products at a later date, it helps the Belizean economy. It provides sustainable employment, funds the planting of 15,000+ trees, all whilst getting a product or unique service in exchange.
We are enhancing our conservation efforts through direct and indirect projects on the mainland, as well as Glover’s Reef. As of this year, we will be sponsoring the Belize-based part of WCS (Wildlife Conservation Society) that was formerly known as the New York Zoological Society (1895-1993), as well as the Fisheries Department and Coast Guard, all based on neighbouring Middle Caye, where we kayak to and snorkel most weeks.
Our sponsorship will enhance all three organisations to enforce and expand the protection of Glover’s Reef Atoll, a national marine reserve since 1993, and UNESCO world heritage site since 1996.
With the Belizean economy struggling due to Covid-19, we are offering a helping hand to counter the budget cuts to all three organisations.
Slickrocks ownership has been appointed to Glover’s Reef Advisory Committee (GRAC) to help and work alongside WCS, Fisheries Department, Coast Guard, and the owners of Long Caye, North East Caye, Middle Caye, and South West Caye.
Minimizing coral bleaching and removing plastic waste is our key objective. On behalf of Slickrock, we will announce some very interesting patented technology that ties in with this theme, the coming months.
To reflect the changes and to ease the financial pressure many people are facing due to Covid-19, we have reduced the price for all new bookings from US$2,425 down to US$2,000 and US$1,500 for children under 12 years. All repeat customers get a 10% discount. All our trips require a US$500 deposit per person, with the remainder due 60 days before your chosen trip date (90 days for peak weeks).
As we have strongly advised in the past with our fairly long-winded paperwork, travel insurance with a cancellation policy is now mandatory.
Our New Covid-19 Cancellation Policy Amendment
If you are unable to travel due to restrictions placed on your home country or Belize by the government(s) or airlines, or if the resort is unable to open due to government restrictions, any paid bookings are eligible for rebooking for future dates of up to a year from your original check-in date. Guests will receive full credit for the amount paid to apply to the future rebooking dates, subject to availability.
On behalf of the Slickrock family, thank you for visiting in the past, present, or future. We look forward to welcoming you to the island this winter.
