Slickrock’s popular Adventure Island kayaking trip at Glover’s Reef combines the elements of a perfect winter escape into a flexible itinerary so you can pursue the activities you want, whether you’re an expert paddler or first-time snorkeler.

Early in the week our guides give sea kayak, snorkel, windsurf and surf kayak instruction. From then on, you shape your days, joining planned group activities, venturing off with a friend, or lounging in your hammock with a book. PADI diving is also an option just up the beach at Long Caye Dive Shop.

Our exclusive location on Long Caye is perfect for those who desire a few creature comforts but don’t want to visit a crowded resort. Facilities include two-person cabanas perched over the surf, all the sports toys you could want, and a fully staffed kitchen with cold beer and soda included in the price. Imitated but not equaled, Belize Adventure Week is widely acclaimed as one of the world’s top adventure travel tours. We specialize in adventure sport activities led by expert guides. In one action-packed tour you can experience sixteen sports in eight days!

Our adventure begins with an explorations of spectacular Actun Tunichil Muknal, an extensive subterranean Mayan ceremonial site. Next we raft the Caves Branch River through nearly five miles of caves. Navigating by headlamp, we explore hidden chambers on this unique underground journey. We also run the Mopan River in sit-on-top whitewater kayaks. Kayaking small drops on this jungle river is the perfect introduction to this exciting sport. Our final inland activity is a visit to Xunantunich Mayan ruin, where we climb one of Belize’s tallest structures. Midweek we transfer to our private island for three days of island sports. "The Mayan Odyssey was a great package tour. Maya Mountain Lodge was very beautiful with comfortable rooms and excellent food. The tours on the Mayan Odyssey ranked right at the top for our favorite activities on the trip. Our guides were very knowledgeable and knew their history. Every visitor to Belize soon discovers that this was once the heartland of the Mayan world. Huge temples and deep caverns are full of undisturbed artifacts and are found throughout Belize. Our Mayan Odyssey trip provides the opportunity to explore several spectacular sites.

This adventure is designed to dovetail with our Adventure Island at Glover's Reef package, either before the Full-Week itinerary (2-night trip) or after the First-Half itinerary (3-night trip). We asked Maya Mountain Lodge to help us create the ultimate Maya package featuring a visit to the world-renowned ruins of Tikal in Guatemala.

On our first day we explore these extensive ruins, hiking past temples and jungle, viewing monkeys and exotic birds along the way. Next we tour Chech-Hem-Ha cave, located in the foothills of the Maya Mountains. Here we see hundreds of ceramic offerings and a Mayan ceremonial altar deep underground. Later that day, we explore Xunantunich, site of the famous Castillo temple.

Small Trip Surcharge: Although our trip minimum for all trips is 4 adult guests, we will run a trip for two-three guests for a surcharge of $300/person. When signing up for a trip, all guests need to be aware they will be charged this additional fee if the trip does not reach at least four adults. We will bill the guest two weeks prior to departure for this additional fee to avoid unnecessary refunding of fees. Trips with only one guest will be canceled.

Extending Your Stay on the Island: No number of days is enough time on our island! Guests booking directly will receive 30% off the 2nd trip when two island packages are booked back-to-back. We do not offer individual days on the island. This discount is not available for those booking through an agent eligible for commissions, and also not available in addition to any other discounts you may already be receiving. On holiday dates that are blocked for discounts, the 30% back-to-back discount is dropped to 10%. Discounts do not apply to any special trips created specifically for individuals.
