Singles
We can confirm a single traveler only when we have at least one other person confirmed, and the person(s) will not cancel without full cancellation fees in penalty. Please inquire about the status of the date you are interested in.

If the single traveler cannot be grouped with the other travelers in the pick up from Belize City, there is an additional $50 US charge, payable upon location. They will try very hard to group you with someone else staying at their lodge, which is why they don't charge it in advance... they hope that they won't have to.

TOUR MAYAN RUINS IN BELIZE * CAVING

Every visitor to Belize should take the time to explore the fabulous archaeological sites of the ancient Mayan civilization. Tikal Mayan ruins in Guatemala.

Belize and nearby Guatemala are the home to some spectacular Mayan ruins which rival any found in the Yucatan. Temples, carvings, ceramics, and many other relics from the Mayan civilization can be seen within easy reach of our itineraries. Slickrock is now offering a new trip that combines a journey to the world-renowned Tikal Mayan ruins in Guatemala with an excursion into a sacred ceremonial cave in Belize, as well as an exploration of Belize’s Xunantunich ruins.

Tikal is a "must-see" for travelers to Central America, with huge temples reaching above the jungle canopy, bespeaking of a civilization intricately organized and advanced in artistic expression. The most famous and most extensive of all archaeological sites in Central America, Tikal is located in the remote Petén region of Guatemala.

Chech-Hem-Ha Pottery Cave, Belize.

Next, our trek into Chech-Hem-Ha Pottery Cave takes us into a world untouched since shamans sealed the cave 1100 years ago. Deep inside the earth we find more than 100 ceramic pots and a ceremonial altar in the furthest chamber. We also discover Xunantunich Mayan ruins, home of Mayan rulers who controlled a large part of western Belize and Guatemala. Here we climb the Castillo, a 130-foot high pyramid that is one of the tallest man-made structures in the country.

Accommodations at Maya Mountain Lodge
Maya Mountain Lodge is nestled beneath a huge rainforest canopy, but is also easily accessible, perfect for our vehicle-based tour. This friendly, family-run jungle lodge and tour company has been in business for over 20 years. The facilities are located on a large parcel of private land only one mile outside of San Ignacio. They have a beautiful dining pavilion, a pool, internet access for their guests, and carefully tended gardens including a vegetable garden where herbs for their fantastic meals are grown. The peaceful setting will immerse you in the daily rhythms of the surrounding jungle, and the birding is excellent right on their grounds.

Cottages or Rooms?
Your price varies on which accommodation you choose. Their cottages are individual buildings with tiled bathrooms and private porches. The cottages are larger than the rooms, and some sleep four-six comfortably.

The rooms are located in The Parrot Perch. This raised building has seven rooms, each with a private bath and a huge, community porch overlooking the grounds. The hallway, below, shows how each room opens onto a single hall that leads to the wonderful, airy porch. Our Belize Adventure Week groups take over the Parrot Perch during the inland part of that trip, the porch becomes our headquarters!
