How to Meet Us

If flying into the country on Day 1, we meet you at the international airport. We can meet any flight from 10:30 a.m. onward on one of four shuttle trips between Belize City and San Ignacio. For those already in Belize our shuttle service picks up at 11 a.m. in Belize City at one of three locations: the Belize Municipal Airport (if flying in from another location in Belize), at the Marine Terminal (if taking a boat from Caye Caulker or Ambergris Caye), or at the Belize Biltmore Plaza Hotel (if coming off of our island trip, or if you are already in Belize City) and then proceeds to the international airport to pick up arriving passengers. Lunch can be purchased at the airport while waiting for the shuttle service to collect everyone, you then travel 2-2.5 hours to San Ignacio. If arriving one day early (on Tuesday) you will probably want to stay at the Biltmore, below is contact information for this hotel located on the outskirts of Belize City, about a ten-minute cab ride from the international airport. Simply let us know your plans so we know how to find you.

If Late or Delayed

We work in the office on travel days to assist if you have any problems along the way. It is important that you immediately notify our Utah office (800-390-5715 or 435-259-4225) or Maya Mountain Lodge (011-501-824-2164 or 011-501-672-1919) if you anticipate being unable to meet the shuttle on time. The driver will be checking with Maya Mountain for instructions if you do not arrive. If no one answers, leave a message with your plans and a number where you can be reached. The airline may cover the costs, but you should be prepared to pay for it yourself. This is when travel insurance is a lifesaver; we strongly recommend you purchase a policy. Call TravelEx: (800) 228-9792 (Slickrock’s location number is 44-0013). If you are delayed you must pay upon receipt of services to catch up with your trip. Early notification of a delay directly to Maya Mountain Lodge assists to save you extra expenses or an insurance claim (trip delay clause of trip insurance). They will work with you to get you on the latest shuttle available, but if very late you will have to pay for a cab to San Ignacio, which costs approximately $150 US.

If you are a day late you will miss the trip to Tikal, and there is no way to make it up. This is why we always recommend arriving a day early if you can (or get long layovers in-between connecting flights). Arriving early is the best insurance against missing part of the itinerary.
