Blessed with many natural wonders, Belize contains rainforest-cloaked mountains, hidden river gorges, Mayan ruins, numerous wildlife preserves, some of the largest cave systems in the world, and the world's second longest coral barrier reef. Belize City has an unsavory reputation, which is somewhat deserved. You should not walk alone at night, but it is safe to walk around during the day, provided you adopt a confident attitude.
